We had a great turnout at the South Hills Skate Contest on June 16th , 2007 . I want to thank everyone for helping out especially Lenny for organizing the slalom event and Melissa for handling the registration. This was a pic of the ransom note contest shirt. I hope everyone got one.

Stenwheel Regatta 1978 Slalom
My favorite photo
1978 Classic Photo
I found this pic of David Jenkins on my home ramp in 1978. My ramp was Charleston's original skatepark. There were 20 or so skaters there every weekend, and my mom faithfully delivered snacks to all the kids that came to ride. Even the Pepsi Team from California showed up for a session. David (pic) was a regular at the ramp until he was hit by a car while street skating in the neighborhood and ended his skating career.

Charleston needs a Skate Plaza
The Skate Plaza is what Charleston needs to build. The Skate Plaza looks like a regular park that business people can go to on their lunch hour but is made for skateboarding. It has nice landscaping, benches , stairs, and is a good place to skate. The community can also use it as a park so it's great for everyone.
