Op Sportswear at Wal Mart in 2008

Wal Mart will now be selling Ocean Pacific Sportswear. The name brand surf clothing that once sold in specialty surf and skateboard shops will be available in Wal Mart in Spring 2008. The way I understand it is that Wal Mart will be the only store selling OP Sportswear. Lots of specialty products are now moving to Wal Mart. The first product I noticed was Schwinn Bikes that were once only sold by an authorized Schwinn bicycle shop are now at every Wal Mart in USA. Mike McGill also sells his signature Airspeed skateboards and shoes at Wal Mart. Wal Mart says they want to penetrate the action sports market . **** As Jeff Spicoli said in the new Transworld Business, "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and a discount on OP Sportswear and I'm fine" ****

American Legend Evel Knievel Dies at 69

Evel Knievel was my hero when I was a kid. In the 1970's Evel Knievel jumped his Harley Davidson XR-750 motorcycle in front of huge crowds all over the world. Evel always wore red , white, and blue leathers and helmet. Evel's most famous jump was in 1968 when he attempted to leap over Ceasers Palace water fountain and ended in a crash that broke almost every bone in his body. "Old School" Evan Tolley featured in new AXE ARMY Video

Evan won the juniors class at the Dixie Cup, was featured in two recent newspapers, and also landed a part in the new Axe Army video. Way to go Evan!!

Congratulations to Marc's Board Shop Team Rider Evan Tolley for his first place win in the junior class at the Downhillbillies Dixie Cup Slalom Race . The Dixie Cup is one of the biggest races in the USA and was held over the weekend Nov-2nd thru 4th in Statesville NC. The best slalom racers in the world attended this huge event. Way to go Evan!!

This is my new board room in my garage currently under construction. I just started it and all I have got done so far is part of the floor. I'm going to make it into a place to hang out and build boards. One day I hope to get a flat screen for the garage to watch skate videos. I want hang some Old School Decks and framed skateboard posters on the wall, but the floor is my first project. The floor is plastic and snaps together in about an hour. It keep the garage floor warm in the winter and makes the garage look great. The floor is available at http://www.racedeck.com/ and comes in multiple colors. The Downhillbillies are hosting the 3rd annual Dixie Cup Slalom Race on November 2nd to the 4th in Statesville NC. The "Beast of the East Award" is presented by Marc's Board Shop and will be given to the fastest amateur skateboarder from the East Coast in the Hybrid Slalom event. This 2ft tall trophy also comes with $100 cash. There will be 5 Marc's Board Shop team riders competing for this award against some of the best skaters in the east. Good luck to the team.

New Blacksburg Virginia Skatepark is now open

The new 8000 sq ft Blacksburg VA skatepark is now open and features a clover bowl. This park is designed by Wally Hollyday. Wally has been building skateparks since the 1970's and some of his designs include famous Apple Skatepark in Ohio in the early 1980's and Greenfield Grind in Wilmington NC. Wally's designs are great so check out the new Blacksburg park.

Marc's Board Shop will be the official sponsor of the "Beast of the East" Award at the 3rd Annual Dixie Cup Slalom race in Statesville NC on November 2-4 2007 . The award will be given to the fastest East Coast amateur slalom racer at the Dixie Cup event. The award will be a nice trophy and $100 cash for the fastest racer. Only amateur skateboarders will be eligible and they have to be from the East Coast. In most races , the pros from California take home all the prizes. The "Beast of the East" award should attract more racers from the East Coast.

Downhillbillies hosting World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding

The Downhillbillies are at it again. This weekend ( Sept 27-30) they are hosting the World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding in Statesville NC. This is a world class event with the best skateboarders in the world attending. Marc's Board Shop team rider Lenny Poage will be competing in this event with over 100 skateboarders from all over the world. We want to wish Lenny good luck in this event. He will be entering the tight and hybrid slalom events. Matt Hughes Skatepark Myrtle Beach SC

Here is a shot of me carving the quarter ramps at the Matt Hughes skatepark in Myrtle Beach. The park has smooth pavement and nice quarter ramps. I rode most of the ramps like a banked slalom course

It was near a record low in Myrtle Beach this morning, 55 degrees. The water was cold and so was the air on the beach. After it warmed up I tried a few runs on my 1980 vintage skimboard fully clothed with sandals. The trick is to not fall

Stability Skatepark ---- Myrtle Beach SC

I skated Stability park today in Myrtle Beach . It's smooth, has some good lines and was packed with skaters. Local skate/surf grom sticking his tongue out at me. The first pic is an overview of the park.

Myrtle Beach vacation and new shoes

Myrtle Beach has two parks . One is called Stability and the other is named after a kid who died here in Myrtle called the Matt Hughes skatepark. Stability looks nice, smooth pavement, 6ft halfpipe, a bunch of street stuff, a few quarter ramps and a some banks for slides. Stabilty has their own skate shop and I picked these vans up because the owner offered them to me at half price since no one wants them. The shoes remind me of something Tony Hawk would wear at Del Mar Skate Ranch in 1985.

I got this birthday card from Alva Skates today advertising Tony Alva's 50th Birthday. Tony has owned Alva Skates since he was 19 yrs old. Tony Alva is a skateboarding legend and at 50 yrs old he doesn't show any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
